Banks St Stephens C of E Primary School

Year 3/4

 Welcome to Mr Sergeant's Class

Welcome Back!

Below is a plan detailing the learning objectives the children in Year 3/4 will be covering this term.

Spring Wildlife Challenges

After so many children in our class completed our Winter wildlife challenges we have set 3 brand new Spring challenges to help the wild plants and wild creatures on your doorsteps.  The children have been sent home with details of each challenge.  For easy access to some of the 'How to' guides I have provided some links below that will help you and your children complete each challenge.  Good luck, and thank you for making our wildlife challenges so successful!

CHALLENGE 1 - Create a Mini-Pond

CHALLENGE 2 - Help Bees and Butterflies by sowing a small wildflower meadow

CHALLENGE 3 - Make a butterfly feeder (and other wildlife 'how to' guides)

Children will have until the 30th June to complete each challenge.  Remember, these are voluntary challenges that are not part of homework, however children who complete the challenges will be rewarded!

 Happy New Year!

Welcome back.  I trust and hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to a prosperous new year.  Below is a copy of our termly planning document that details the learning objectives your children will be working towards over the coming months.  Shortly, a digital copy of our Spring Term 'Topic Letter' will also be available to download.

Persuading Santa!

We have been writing persuasive emails to Santa and now, thanks to our use of Purple Mash, we have been able to share them on our online display board! Scroll down to find your child's work and click on the preview to see the finished piece along with some of my comments.

Smoothie Fun!

Today, the children in Year 3/4 have enjoyed making delicious and nutritious smoothies! This mini-enterprise project has included aspects of Science, English and Maths and the children have worked so well to not only make some lovely smoothies, but also to make a small profit which will shortly be donated to FOSS.  Thank you so much to all the wonderful parents who managed to make it into school this afternoon to buy our smoothies, myself and the children really appreciate your support.

Welcome back! Our first week back at school has come and gone, the children are settled and routines are beginning to form.  They've already produced some super work and are gearing up for what I'm sure will be a very productive term.  Below is an electronic copy of my topic letter that was sent out on Friday and a copy of this term's planning, which outlines what themes and learning objectives the children will be covering during the Autumn term.

Just a reminder to children and parents that homework is due in on a Wednesday and children should bring their reading books and reading records to school with them everyday.
